5 New GI Anesthesia Code changes in 2018

Anesthesia Coding Changes for 20185 new codes have been added to the GI mixIn the Upper Abdomen 00740 has been deleted and is now 00731. 00732 has been added as an indented code to 00731.   Now, for those completing ERCP procedures have now have 00732 to utilize. ERCP stands for Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopacreatography.ERCP is a procedure that uses a fluoroscope & endoscope to deal with issues within the pancreatic ductal and biliary systems.
In the Lower Abdomen 00810 has been deleted and is now 00811. A screening colonoscopy has been added to the mix with code 00812. This code is actually an indented code to 00811. 00813 is the final code added to the GI mix for anesthesia. In 00813, is to be utilized for the upper and lower GI.  According to Medicare's transmittal 3844 Publication 100-04,  anesthesia services furnished in conjunction with and in support of a screening colonoscopy are reported with CPT code 00812 and coinsurance and deductible are waived.
